Summit County increases sewer rates for some customers beginning Jan. 1
AKRON, Ohio – Some Summit County residents will see higher sewer bills beginning Jan. 1, 2022.
Summit County Council approved new sewer rates for the sewer district last month. The sewer district serves the unincorporated areas of the county and several other municipalities — approximately 9 percent of county residents.
The new rates are needed to offset increased cost for sewage treatment by third-party providers, including the city of Akron and the Northeast Ohio Regional Sewer District. The rates will also provide revenue for key sewer infrastructure projects, according to the county.
