2017 Financial Survey Summary
Since 1981, NACWA has conducted a triennial financial survey of its membership to provide clean water agencies, government officials, and the public with important insight into the financing and management of public clean water utilities. A 28-page summary document highlighting the key findings and conclusions from the 2017 Financial Survey, along with a spreadsheet with all the Survey data, are now available below. The full Survey report will be available in late August 2018.
Like previous surveys, the 2017 Survey presents industry statistics and trend data on utility revenues, expenses, debt financing, capital needs, sewer service charges, residential and industrial rates and rate structures, staffing levels, and salaries. In addition, the Survey expands on this baseline of data and presents information on the status of asset management programs, financial statement data, staff licensing requirements, and energy use and costs.
