  • AlexRenew’s Water Discovery & Education Destination

    AlexRenew, the water resource recovery facility for the City of Alexandria and parts of Fairfax County, Virginia, was largely invisible in the community until the last few years. Its citizen board-created “2040 vision” – with a focus on community engagement, as well as a rebranding – were catalysts to AlexRenew throwing off its cloak of invisibility and creating a comprehensive outreach program, including educational centers.

In upcoming months, NACWA’s special Member Spotlight hub—website, social media, member communications—will promote the winners of the Association’s National Environmental Achievement Awards. Today’s debut Spotlight features AlexRenew and its creation of an interactive “Water Discovery & Education Destination” for visitors and tourists. Built in response to community feedback, the innovative community space appeals to all ages, and inspires a love of clean water and its stewardship. Kudos AlexRenew!

The second annual Strategic Communications: H2O Conference (StratComm: H2O) will be in Chicago, IL, this June 6 – 7, with more programming, more networking opportunities and more value for clean water utilities.
