CHARLOTTE COUNTY, Fla. (SNN TV) - Flushable wipes may say "flushable," but they can cause major plumbing issues.

 

That's the message from Charlotte County Utilities, which posted these pictures on social media of rags that accumulated at its East Port Water Reclamation Facility.

 

While toilet wipes can be flushed, Charlotte County says they can cause major plumbing issues. County utilities say they receive numerous calls from customers about clogs caused by wipes and the customer ends up being responsible due to the issue being within the home or sewer line on their property.

 

The county suggests throwing wipes in the trash after being used. The Environmental Protection Agency recommends only flushing toilet paper. Of course, you can always invest in a bidet.
