BOSTON — Legislation allowing for creation of a wastewater partnership among the towns of Dennis, Harwich and Yarmouth has passed the Legislature and is awaiting signature by Gov. Charlie Baker.

In a joint statement issued Thursday, Sen. Julian Cyr, D-Truro, and state Reps. Sarah Peake, D-Provincetown; Timothy Whelan, R-Brewster; and William Crocker, R-Centerville, announced the passage of the bill that will make the DHY Clean Waters Community Partnership a legal entity, and they commended the towns for coming together to solve the infrastructure challenge of treating wastewater.

“The (towns) have worked hard to come up with an important inter-municipal partnership that will reduce excess nitrogen that is polluting the Cape’s marine environment and provide cleaner water for their residents and visitors for decades to come,” the statement says.
