TOLEDO, Ohio (WTVG) - The City of Toledo is rolling out a new program to help Toledoans pay their water bills.

The Water Rate Affordability Program was born from a study, which was conducted during COVID, that aimed to find new ways to make access to water more affordable for low-income households.

“We do want to be really sensitive to the people who can’t afford the services because water is life and we need to provide water to everyone,” said Ed Moore, director of public utilities for the City of Toledo.

The guidelines for the program include living in a home with an individual water meter having a household income of 200% over the poverty line. That means for a family of four, the income would have to be $60,000.
