Water Sector Associations Meet with Other “Receivers” on PFAS

Jun 11, 2019

(June 11, 2019) – NACWA, along with the Water Environment Federation, the American Water Works Association, and the Association of Metropolitan Water Agencies, met with various individuals representing the solid waste and recycling sectors on June 4 in an effort to foster a continued dialogue that public wastewater treatment facilities and landfills are passive receivers, and not sources, of per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS).

As the PFAS issue continues to gain significant attention in Congress and in many states around the country, the water sector is looking for areas of common ground with similar sectors that are also dealing with these contaminants of concern. NACWA looks forward to keeping the communication channels open with the solid waste community and furthering conversation and advocacy efforts on PFAS.
