NACWA Takes Part in Infrastructure Working Group Hill Visits

Mar 13, 2018

five(March 13, 2018) – NACWA and its coalition partners in the Infrastructure Working Group took part in Capitol Hill Day visits with Members of Congress and their staffs last week to discuss the importance of advancing a legislative infrastructure package.

The meetings provided the Working Group with a bipartisan opportunity to meet with a wide array of House and Senate offices—including leadership and key committees of jurisdiction—to advocate for a comprehensive package that transforms U.S. infrastructure systems.  During the meetings, NACWA highlighted the strong need for increased federal funding for drinking water and clean water and asked that any legislation moving forward included clean water as a key component.

Earlier this year, NACWA joined the Working Group in sending a letter to congressional leadership encouraging them to develop and advance a bipartisan infrastructure investment package that will modernize U.S. infrastructure beyond the status quo.  NACWA was joined by well over 100 Working Group members on the letter.

NACWA is pleased to be part of this collaborative working group, led by the Associated General Contractors (AGC) and the National Association of Manufacturers (NAM), which brings together a diverse range of infrastructure voices advancing and advocating for continued investment in water infrastructure.

As Congress works on infrastructure legislation, the Working Group will continue to serve as a significant voice to ensure that clean water remains part of any infrastructure
