Energy Workgroup Discusses Net Zero

Oct 3, 2017

nine(October 3, 2017) -- The Energy Workgroup convened last week to discuss the role of renewable energy in NACWA Member Agency the Narragansett Bay Commission’s (NBC) energy portfolio. Tom Uva, Director of Environmental Science & Compliance Division at NBC, outlined his utility’s impressive steps towards becoming energy “net zero.” In fact, NBC uses an array of solar, combined heat & power, and wind to power roughly 95% of their energy demand.

In addition to the presentation, NACWA staff gave a brief overview on the Renewable Fuel Standard (RFS). Specifically, staff discussed NACWA’s recent initiatives to have fuel derived from co-digestion efforts be considered cellulosic biofuel under the RFS.

The next Energy Workgroup webinar is scheduled for late November. If you would like to join the workgroup, please contact NACWA’s Government Affairs Manager, Oliver Hamilton, for more information.
