Association Co-Hosts One Water Listening Session
NACWA joined with the U.S. Water Alliance (Alliance) and the Water Environment Federation (WEF) to co-host a One Water Listening Session in Washington, DC on March 9. The Alliance has been holding listening sessions around the country in recent months to gather input for a national water policy framework. NACWA and WEF are partners with the Alliance in this effort, and the DC listening session provided an opportunity share information and receive input from other water sector groups in the Nation’s capital.
The DC listening session was attended by a broad coalition of water organizations and stakeholders. Participants received an update from Alliance staff on the results of previous listening sessions from around the country and provided input on proposed elements of a national policy framework. Key areas of discussion included funding and financing, equity and affordability, regional collaboration, and technology and innovation. The Alliance will be working to finalize a policy framework document over the next few months based on discussions from all of the listening sessions, and NACWA will have input into the final product.
