EXETER — U.S. Sen. Jeanne Shaheen is calling for a new round of federal stimulus to assist municipalities, as some are being left to bear the full brunt of their outstanding debt on public works projects after state grants have been suspended as New Hampshire is forced to tighten its belt due to the pandemic.

Shaheen posted a letter on her Twitter account written by Exeter Town Manager Russ Dean, who requested Shaheen work with her colleagues in the Senate to craft another stimulus bill to either directly assist communities or buffer state coffers to allow New Hampshire to resume its state aid grants. SAGs range in all sizes and are used to help offset the cost of smaller critical infrastructure projects around the state.
