National Stormwater Advocacy Network Convenes, Discusses Emerging MS4 Issues

May 1, 2018

six(May 1, 2018) – The National Stormwater Advocacy Network (NSAN) held a quarterly conference call on April 27 and discussed a variety of important stormwater issues that continue to challenge municipalities across the country.

Susie Smith, Executive Director of the Oregon Association of Clean Water Agencies (ACWA), briefed the Network on the recent draft Phase II MS4 General Permit that was issued in Oregon earlier this year. NACWA submitted comments on Oregon’s draft MS4 Phase II permit due to concerns that the permit would set a dangerous precedent that will have national implications if finalized “as-is.”

In addition to discussing MS4 issues in Oregon, NACWA’s General Counsel, Amanda Waters, updated the Network on the litigation status of the New Hampshire and Massachusetts MS4 Phase II permits.

For more information on the NSAN, which is a coalition of state and regional stormwater organizations convened by NACWA, please contact Emily Remmel, NACWA’s Director of Regulatory Affairs.
