WAYLAND, MI — The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is providing the Gun Lake Tribal Utility Authority with a $56 million loan to support improvements to the tribe’s drinking water and water wastewater systems.

The loan comes through the EPA’s Water Infrastructure Finance and Innovation Act.

It will help fund design and construction of a new wastewater treatment plant, groundwater wells, a new drinking water treatment plant and an elevated water storage tank, according to a news release from the EPA. In addition, the loan will help finance the installation of water meters to improve water loss monitoring.
