New program helps Reading residents pay overdue water and sewer bills

Reading residents who have fallen behind on their water bills may be eligible for a state grant program rolled out this month.
The Low Income Household Water Assistance Program is a temporary emergency program aimed at helping low-income families pay overdue water and sewer bills.
Grants are available to eligible city and other Reading Area Water Authority customers who meet the income guidelines found on the state Department of Human Services website.
“We are really trying to get the word out,” Suzanne M. Ruotolo, RAWA administrator, said.
