State holds public hearings to address PFAS crisis

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Michigan may be one the first states to place regulations on PFAS (Perfluorooctanoic acid) contamination levels according to Scott Dean, a spokesperson for Michigan's Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy (EGLE).
EGLE is scheduled to hold the first of three hearings Wednesday to receive public comments on proposed changes to establish maximum contaminant levels of PFAS in drinking water. If adopted, the proposed rules will provide provisions that reduce exposure to seven PFAS compounds in drinking water.

- public notification requirements
- laboratory certification criteria
