Public Clean Water Utilities Applaud Proposed Increase to Infrastructure Funding

Statement from NACWA CAO Appreciates Congress's Acknowledgment of Need for More Funding to CWSRF

(Washington, D.C.) – Wednesday afternoon the U.S. House of Representatives voted to advance the Moving Forward Act, an ambitious proposal by House Democrats to drastically increase clean water infrastructure funding. Most importantly, the legislation includes $40 billion in funding for the Clean Water State Revolving Fund, a drastic increase from previous years.

Nathan Gardner-Andrews, NACWA’s Chief Advocacy Officer, issued the following statement:

"The clean water funding proposed in H.R. 2, the Moving Forward Act, illustrates that Congress recognizes the transformative level of funding needed to continue providing first-rate clean water services across the country. The current level of federal investment in clean water infrastructure is below five percent nationwide, a number that falls far short of what communities need from their federal partner. NACWA appreciates that Congress recognizes this need and looks forward to continuing working with both houses of Congress to advance legislation that provides adequate funding for the clean water sector and helps continue protecting public health and the environment."
