New Date Set for HHS-Utility Webinar on Low-Income Water Program; State Plans Due August 9th
The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), Office of Community Services has set a new date for a webinar for water and wastewater utilities to learn more about the emergency Low-Income Household Water Assistance Program (LIHWAP): Thursday, August 12th from 3:00-4:00 PM Eastern. We expect a registration link from HHS within the week, which NACWA will include in the next Current.
Dollars have not yet begun to flow out to communities through the LIHWAP program. Each state has received their allocation and is able to draw down its administrative funds to set up its program. States are required by August 9th to submit their Work Plans to HHS for approval.
Through our members, NACWA has received draft work plans from several states which are out for public review. If you have not been engaged with your state and are interested in the process, we urge you to reach out immediately. Your state LIHEAP office is the likely point of contact.
