Dec 2, 2020

(December 2, 2020) – A workgroup of NACWA members met on November 23 to discuss Action 2.2.4 of EPA's Water Reuse Action Plan.

This Action is to "Enhance wastewater source control through local pretreatment programs to support water reuse opportunities for municipal wastewater" by developing "case studies of examples of how local pretreatment programs can mitigate and reduce problematic pollutants discharged into POTWs and enhance reuse opportunities for reclaimed wastewater." NACWA is the lead association for this action.

The workgroup discussed actions that pretreatment and pollution prevention programs can take to protect the quality of influent for reuse. The workgroup also considered different ideas for a resource library that can assist utilities who are planning or considering water reuse.

The workgroup will meet again in January. Please contact Cynthia Finley, NACWA’s Director of Regulatory Affairs, if you are interested in participating in the workgroup.
