NDIAN RIVER COUNTY — Millions of dollars in delinquent water and sewer accounts soon may be resolved.

The county is owed about $5.2 million in delinquent accounts, coupled with about $2.1 million in interest and penalties, officials said.

There currently are 295 overdue utility accounts that are more than two years old, totaling about $3.1 million, officials said. About 38% of the accounts are more than 20 years old.

Most of those overdue accounts stem from 131 unpaid water and sewer accounts, totaling $2.3 million, Utilities Services Director Vincent Burke told County Commissioners Tuesday.

Other accounts include impact-fee loans and connection assessments.
