DULUTH, MN (KDAL) – The Western Lake Superior Sanitary District (WLSSD) has earned the 2019 Peak Performance Award from the National Association of Clean Water Agencies.

The award is one of the industry’s highest honors and recognizes wastewater treatment facilities that are 100 percent compliant with the National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System permit.

WLSSD Executive Director, Marianne Bohren, says the award is due to how well the facility is operated and also the reduction of toxic compounds by industrial customers, businesses and residents.
