Congress Moves to Extend Government Funding to Mid-December

Sep 23, 2020

(September 23, 2020) – With the end of the federal fiscal year on September 30th fast approaching, Congress is moving to pass a short-term continuing resolution (CR) in the coming days. The CR will avoid a government shutdown and fund all federal agencies, including EPA, at current spending levels until December 11th

The House reached bipartisan agreement on a funding package late on September 22 and the Senate is expected to pass the bill and send it to the White House in the next few days.

Given the numerous key clean water priorities NACWA has been working with appropriators on for the past several months, NACWA will continue its engagement with both the House and Senate throughout the Fall to ensure any final fiscal year (FY) 2021 appropriations package in December or beyond includes strong federal funding for clean water.

Please contact Jason Isakovic or Kristina Surfus, NACWA’s Legislative Directors, with any questions or to discuss further.
