EPA Nutrient Survey to Remain Open All Year as EPA Requests More Responses
Jul 22, 2020
(July 22, 2020) – EPA re-launched its POTW Screener Questionnaire in June as part of the Agency’s National Study of Nutrient Removal and Secondary Technologies. After delays due to the coronavirus, and after making revisions recommended by EPA stakeholders, the Agency has begun its second round of fielding the survey. EPA conducted its first round of data collection last fall but was not able to get a representative sample of the sector. To date, EPA has only received responses from roughly 1300 POTWs, or about 8 percent of the total. Treatment plants should have received a mailer in late June notifying them of the survey and EPA was planning to send out informational emails as well.
The Questionnaire will remain open for at least the duration of this calendar year. The Questionnaire is available on EPA’s website at: https://www.epa.gov/eg/potw-nutrient-survey. NACWA conducted a webinar last October to provide members with additional information on the Questionnaire and study. A recording of the webinar is available on NACWA’s website. Members with any questions about the survey can contact Chris Hornback.
