Increasing water rates in Ocean City
OCEAN CITY, Md.- Town officials are increasing their water and wastewater rates for the next five years to pay for infrastructure improvement projects .
47ABC was told every five years they review their rates and this go around they had an outside company do a study to compare the towns rates against surrounding areas.
The study showed that they needed just a little bit of an increase to maintain water infrastructure.
“What residents and property owners can expect is a roughly three percent increase in their water and waste water rates within the next couple of years, which is very, very modest, if you look at a lot of other communities,” Jessica Waters, Ocean City Communications Manager, said.
Waters told us that this new increase is very minimal and they will reevaluate the rates again after five years.
