NACWA Announces Advocacy Staff Updates
(January 15, 2020) – NACWA is pleased to inform the membership of the following staff updates.
The Association’s previous General Counsel, Amanda Waters, left at the end of December to pursue opportunities in the private legal sector. NACWA thanks Amanda for all her hard work and dedication to the Association and wishes her well in her future endeavors.
With Amanda’s departure, the Association’s Chief Advocacy Officer, Nathan Gardner-Andrews, will be taking on the General Counsel role in addition to overseeing NACWA’s government affairs advocacy work. Nathan previously served as the Association’s General Counsel from 2010 to 2015, and his new role will further integrate NACWA’s regulatory, legislative, legal, and communications efforts. Nathan’s new title is General Counsel & Chief Advocacy Officer and he can be reached at firstname.lastname@example.org.
The Association has also hired Amanda Aspatore as Chief Legal Counsel to help manage day-to-day legal issues and litigation. Amanda comes to NACWA with a wealth of clean water legal experience, having previously served in legal positions with the National Mining Association and the Edison Electric Institute, and a keen understanding of the Clean Water Act. The Association is thrilled to welcome Amanda to the team and she may be reached at email@example.com.
Kristina Surfus, NACWA’s previous Director of Legislative Affairs, has been promoted to Managing Director, Government Affairs. In this new role she will coordinate the day-to-day work of NACWA’s legislative and regulatory issues. She will supervise the legislative team and work very closely with the regulatory team. NACWA congratulates Kristina on this well-deserved new position – she may be reached at firstname.lastname@example.org.
