Clean Water Projects Score Big as EPA Announces WIFIA Loan Invitations
(October 23, 2019) – EPA announced 38 projects on Oct. 22 that have been invited to apply for the third round of Water Infrastructure Finance and Innovation Act (WIFIA) program loans. The total combined amount of the loans is almost $6 billion, which will be leveraged to finance over $12 billion in water infrastructure investment.
Clean water and water reuse projects fared very well in this round, with approximately half of the projects focused on clean water or reuse investments. NACWA utility members also were very successful in this round and will receive over $3 billion in loans for a variety of projects.
NACWA has been a strong supporter for increased funding of WIFIA in recent years, along with other water sector partners, and is pleased to see such a broad group of projects funded. The Association congratulates those members that were selected to apply – well done!
