NACWA Members Encouraged to Continue PFAS Outreach

Oct 9, 2019

(October 9, 2019) – With Congress home again this week on its October recess, NACWA members are encouraged to continue outreach to their congressional representatives on PFAS.

NACWA and its water sector partners have made good progress in educating Members of Congress about the ways in which public clean water utilities can help address PFAS concerns, but also the potential unintended consequences of regulating PFAS under the Clean Water Act or federal CERCLA/Superfund laws without first allowing for appropriate scientific research and analysis. But direct outreach from utilities to their elected leaders is the most effective form of advocacy.  NACWA thanks all Association members that have engaged on this issue – your efforts are making a difference!

NACWA encourages its members to make use of the Association’s PFAS resource page for outreach on this issue.  The page includes a draft template letter for use with Congress and a draft op-ed for use with local media, among other items.  Members are also encouraged to contact NACWA staff at any time with questions or for assistance.
