NACWA Carries Clean Water Message to 5 Cities Conference
(September 11, 2019) – NACWA was thrilled to attend the annual 5 Cities Plus conference last week, hosted by Association member the Metropolitan St. Louis Sewer District (MSD). Other NACWA members making up the 5 Cities consortium and participating in the conference included Columbus, OH, Louisville, KY, Indianapolis, IN, and Cincinnati, OH.
The conference provided a chance for participating utilities to share stories and lessons learned with each other, allowing clean water professionals to connect with – and learn from – their utility peers. Topics discussed included smart utilities, new innovations to addressing combined sewer overflow (CSO) issues, biosolids management, green infrastructure, project management, and effective customer communications.
Following the conference, NACWA had the opportunity to participate in an advocacy roundtable discussion with Missouri public clean water utilities hosted by St. Louis MSD. The conversation centered around a number of critical issues including blending and wet weather management, nutrients, affordability, and integrated planning. NACWA appreciates the opportunity to be part of the event and thanks St. Louis MSD for its excellent job as host.
