Small & Mid-Size Utility Workgroup Discusses Funding

Jun 18, 2019

(June 18, 2019) - NACWA’s Small & Mid-Size Utility Workgroup met on June 12 to discuss the Clean Water State Revolving Fund (CWSRF), and the Association’s efforts to not only advocate for funding on behalf of its members, but also for a more streamlined process for utilizing that federal funds.

Utilities on the call discussed the challenges to accessing the CWSRF and shared the other funding sources they have employed to finance critical projects. The group also provided feedback on a document drafted by the Council of Infrastructure Financing Authorities (CIFA) and its set of recommendations to streamline the SRF program, as well as recommendations put together by NACWA’s Finance Workgroup sent to EPA Headquarters.

NACWA’s Small & Mid-Size Workgroup is a vital part of ensuring that the Association’s advocacy efforts are accurately representing the needs of utilities in this demographic. The next Workgroup call will be in mid-September. Representatives of small or mid-size utilities interested in participating in the Workgroup or receiving information on the group’s quarterly calls should contact Kelly Brocato, NACWA’s Senior Director of Membership.
