May 13, 2019

U.S. Rep. Elaine Luria testified before a House committee about the need for sewer services and broadband on the Eastern Shore of Virginia, as Congress considers infrastructure legislation.

Luria, D-Va. 2nd District, advocated for infrastructure improvements for the rural region in testimony given May 1 before the House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure.

Congressional Democrats and President Donald Trump reportedly agreed to spend $2 trillion on the nation's crumbling infrastructure during talks on Tuesday, but a plan to pay for it is not clear.

Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi met with Trump for about 90 minutes Tuesday.
