Water Sector Urges New Congress to Prioritize Water Infrastructure
(January 15, 2019) - NACWA joined with 90 national and regional organizations on Jan. 10 in sending a letter to U.S. House and Senate leadership urging that water funding and financing be incorporated into any infrastructure package considered in the 116th Congress, which began this month.
Congressional leadership from both parties has expressed interest in working on an infrastructure package this year. NACWA and other water sector organizations are working to emphasize that any comprehensive infrastructure package should incorporate water alongside roads, bridges, and other sectors. The letter urges that funding and financing for wastewater, stormwater, drinking water, and water reuse be considered.
NACWA thanks the Water Environment Federation (WEF) for helping spearhead the letter effort. Members with any questions about the letter can contact Kristina Surfus or Jason Isakovic, NACWA’s Legislative Directors.
