NEW WINDSOR – The new Butterfield Wells Water Treatment Facility in the Town of New Windsor is up and running.

Town officials said out of an abundance of caution the town had each of the new wells tested for PFCs, the carcinogenic chemicals that contaminated the nearby City of Newburgh’s Washington Lake Reservoir. All three production wells had no detected levels of any perfluorinated compounds, including those found in Washington Lake, PFOS and PFOA, town officials said.
