DigIndy, the $2 billion project building a 28-mile urban sewer pipe under the city, has reached the halfway point.
The project is ahead of schedule and $400 million under budget, officials said.
Mayor Joe Hogsett flushed with excitement Monday at a news conference in the 2300 block of Sutherland Avenue, where crews are building part of the tunnel some 250 feet below the street.
"Eliminating sewer overflows protects human and environmental health," Hogsett said. "Cleaner rivers and streams are an asset to the Indianapolis community."
