Water Sector Supports Senate Bill Reauthorizing WIFIA
(January 31, 2018) – NACWA joined the Water Environment Federation (WEF), the Association of Metropolitan Water Agencies (AMWA) and the American Water Works Association (AWWA) on a letter of support last week for the legislation that was introduced in the Senate to reauthorize the EPA’s WIFIA Program and jump-start the U.S. Army Corps’ implementation of its own WIFIA Program.
The bipartisan WIFIA Reauthorization Act of 2017 (S. 2329), was introduced by Senators John Hoeven (R-ND) and Cory Booker (D-NJ) as companion legislation to the recently introduced House version (H.R. 4492), for which the sector also provided a letter of support. These bills would authorize WIFIA through 2024. The program is currently authorized through 2019.
