NACWA Talks Potable Reuse Applications at International Symposium

Jan 31, 2018

ten(January 31, 2018) - NACWA attended and moderated a session last week at the American Water Works Association’s International Symposium on Potable Reuse in Austin, TX. The Symposium attracted water sector professionals from around the world and offered historical applications of potable reuse and current innovations in the field.  As water supplies decrease, many municipalities are considering potable reuse as a method to augment local water quantities.

NACWA moderated a session on potable reuse and environmental buffers—a process where an aquifer, wetland or other waterbody serves as an intermediate discharge and holding scheme for treated water from an advanced wastewater treatment facility. If you would like to learn more about potable reuse, or environmental or engineered buffers generally, EPA’s recent 2017 Compendium on Potable Reuse is an excellent resource.   Contact Emily Remmel, NACWA’s Director of Regulatory Affairs, for more information.
