GAO Requests NACWA Feedback on Title XVI

Jan 23, 2018

four(January 23, 2018) – NACWA met with the U.S. Government Accountability Office (GAO) on January 17 to assess the Bureau of Reclamation’s Title XVI program on water reuse and recycling projects, along with their implementation. Specifically, the GAO was interested in Title XVI’s benefits and challenges; the Bureau of Reclamation’s application process and evaluation criteria for selecting the projects and studies it wishes to fund; perspectives on the Water Infrastructure for Improvements for the Nation (WIIN) Act of 2016, and its implementation thus far; and key issues relating to water reuse and recycling.

NACWA appreciates the members of the Association’s Arid State and Water Quantity Workgroup that provided detailed comments. The GAO anticipates finalizing a report by the end of this year. If you would like more information on the meeting or NACWA’s Arid State and Water Quantity Workgroup, please contact Emily Remmel, Director of Regulatory Affairs.
