House Hearing to Focus on Integrated Planning, Affordability
The House Transportation & Infrastructure Subcommittee on Water Resources and Environment has scheduled an oversight hearing Thursday, May 18 on water affordability and integrated planning. The Committee will hear from local government leaders regarding challenges in meeting clean water obligations and managing ratepayer costs, and NACWA will be submitting testimony. With several related bills introduced this year – including the Water Infrastructure Flexibility Act, and the Water Quality Improvement Act of 2017 -- the oversight hearing is a timely opportunity for Members of Congress to learn more about the issues in advance of potential bill consideration.
NACWA plans to attend the hearing with prepared written testimony, and report back to membership about the proceedings. The hearing will also be live-streamed on the Subcommittee website. For more information on the hearing or related issues, contact Kristina Surfus, NACWA Legislative Affairs Director.
