Webinar Outlines NACWA Project on Cost Implications of PFAS Management

Oct 26, 2022

NACWA hosted a webinar, Comprehensive Cost Analysis on Impacts of Per- and Polyfluoroalkyl Substances (PFAS) on the Clean Water Community, on October 20th to brief NACWA members about an on-going project to identify and quantify the scope of PFAS-related costs to the public clean water community.

PFAS control is an evolving challenge being simultaneously addressed at the federal and state levels through regulatory pressures that are impacting traditional operational protocols for many NACWA members. An initial study on the cost impact of emerging PFAS concerns arising from management activity modifications was published by NACWA in 2019.

This current study will provide an expanded look beyond the initial cost estimates of redirected biosolids management strategies to include more granularity of costs for PFAS monitoring activities, source control options, management oversight of other relevant pretreatment considerations, and geographic cost differences.

NACWA members may access a recording of the webinar here and a copy of the slides here.

Please contact Danielle Cloutier, NACWA’s Director of Legislative Affairs, with any questions or comments.
