SAVE THE DATE: October 17th NACWA Webinar on Proposed CERCLA Hazardous Substance Designations for PFOA and PFOS

Sep 28, 2022

NACWA will be hosting a webinar from 2 – 3 PM (Eastern) on Monday, October 17th addressing EPA’s recent proposal to designate two PFAS substances – PFOA and PFOS – as hazardous substances under the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act (CERCLA or Superfund).

Register here to join NACWA’s Legal Affairs Committee Co-Chairs, Emily Jackson, General Counsel of Metro Water Recovery, and Devon Goodrich, Senior Counsel at the New York City Department of Law, as they provide a high-level overview of CERCLA and discuss what the proposed listings could mean for clean water utilities.

NACWA staff will also discuss NACWA’s draft comments on the proposal, which are currently due November 7, and how NACWA members can submit their own comments.  NACWA and other water associations have requested an extension of the comment period, but EPA has yet to respond to those requests.

Please contact NACWA General Counsel, Amanda Aspatore, with any questions concerning the October 17th webinar. Please contact Kristina Surfus, NACWA’s Managing Director of Government Affairs, if you are interested in helping to review NACWA’s comments.

Also, save-the-date for another webinar on Thursday, October 20th from 1-2:30 pm EST to get an update on a NACWA-funded study to quantify the cost implications of emerging PFAS control requirements. Register here
