NACWA Continues Communication with Hill on PFAS Issue

Jul 31, 2019

(July 31, 2019) – With Congress heading out of DC for its August recess, NACWA and other water sector groups continue meeting with congressional staff regarding the proper path forward on PFAS legislation that takes into account potential unintended consequences for public clean water utilities.

Over the next few weeks, informal conference discussions are set to take place between the House and Senate on the National Defense Authorization (NDAA), which includes a PFAS provision. NACWA is working to ensure that Congress understands the potential impacts of PFAS legislation on the sector—including all the nuances of the issues and concerns of NACWA members—and that the bill will provide an appropriate, scientifically justified approach.

NACWA is working on a variety of advocacy resources on PFAS and will soon be providing Association members with additional information and specific advocacy asks to communicate to their Members of Congress.  In the meantime, please contact Emily Remmel, NACWA’s Director of Regulatory Affairs, or Jason Isakovic, NACWA’s Director of Legislative Affairs, with questions or for more information.
