Clean Water Investment and Priorities Elevated During Infrastructure Week

May 21, 2019

(May 21, 2019) - The 7th Annual Infrastructure Week concluded Monday, May 20 with more than 500 Affiliate organizations hosting nearly 150 events across America to promote infrastructure, a number of them specifically aimed at elevating clean water priorities.

A highlight event of Infrastructure Week for the clean water sector was a special May 15 panel discussion in Washington, DC entitled, The Future is Now: Smart Water Infrastructure, and featured NACWA Board Members, Kyle Dreyfuss-Wells, CEO of the Northeast Ohio Regional Sewer District, and Ted Henifin, General Manager of the Hampton Roads Sanitation District, among other panelists. The panel, hosted by the Value of Water Campaign, made the case for smart water infrastructure investment, even as the White House and Congress engage in talks over a possible $2 trillion national infrastructure package.

Infrastructure Week is an annual national week of education and advocacy that brings together American businesses, workers, elected leaders, everyday citizens, and infrastructure sectors, including clean water sector, to highlight the state of our nation’s infrastructure and advocate for fair infrastructure policy and increases in federal investment, among other issues.  NACWA participated both through its involvement in the Value of Water Campaign and also through active engagement via the Association’s social media accounts.
