NACWA Launches New MS4 Stormwater Permitting Guide

Mar 13, 2018

two(March 13, 2018) - NACWA is proud to release a valuable new resource to help your clean water utility succeed:  The MS4 Stormwater Permitting Guide.  As municipal separate storm sewer system (MS4) permits become more complex with each iteration, the Guide serves an excellent tool for utility professionals, whether you’re a new stormwater manager looking to navigate the stormwater permitting process for the first time or a seasoned expert who is searching for answers to advanced MS4-related questions.

The MS4 Stormwater Permitting Guide contains nine comprehensive chapters on a wide variety of timely and relevant stormwater issues. If you’re searching for guidance on permit terms, concerns over the Maximum Extent Practical (MEP) standard and water quality standards, water quality trading in the context of stormwater, post-construction needs, or other related issues, the Guide provides practical information and helpful advice for small Phase II MS4s and medium and large Phase I MS4s. The Guide also includes a “Hot Topics” section that dives into emerging contaminants, the jurisdictional quagmire around Waters of the United States, climate resiliency, and much more!

The MS4 Stormwater Permitting Guide is an easy-to-use digital document that you can refer to “as needs arise,” and can share with your stormwater colleagues. Among its useful features, the Guide contains quick reference “call-out” boxes, as well as citations and resources to key regulatory and legal sources — all to help you confidently navigate the stormwater permitting process and not miss any important details.
