NACWA Provides Federal Update at Wet Weather Partnership Conference

sixNACWA participated in the annual Wet Weather Partnership Conference May 2-4 in Indianapolis, providing an update on Trump Administration actions and legislative developments. 

In her remarks, NACWA General Counsel Amanda Waters highlighted Executive Orders issued by the Trump Administration related to regulatory reform and NACWA’s regulatory improvement initiatives.  Waters also addressed the Administration’s Proposed FY2018 Budget as well as what is known about proposed Tax Reform and President Trump’s $1 Billion Infrastructure Plan. 

On the Legislative front, Waters discussed the FY2017 Omnibus spending bill passed on May 3 to keep the Federal Government funded through September.  The bill contains several of the investment priorities that NACWA has advocated on behalf of membership. Additionally, the presentation highlighted S.692, the bipartisan Water Infrastructure Flexibility Act legislation, and alerted the audience about the House version that has since been introduced.  Waters closed with an overview of several other bills with the potential to impact the Clean Water Sector (H.R. 1430 The HONESTAct; H.R. 469 - "Sunshine for Regulatory Decrees and Settlements Act of 2017"  / S. 119; H.R. 26- REINS Act (Regulations from the Executive in Need of Scrutiny Act of 2017 / S. 21; H.R. 5 – Regulatory Accountability Act of 2017).
