Stakeholder Listening Session Scheduled on Low-Income Water Assistance Program, Members Encouraged to Participate

Apr 14, 2021

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ Office of Community Services (OCS) will be hosting an online listening session on April 20 about the new Low-Income Household Water Assistance Program (LIHWAP) that has been recently funded by Congress.

The purpose of the session is to provide critical information about LIHWAP requirements and to gain a better understanding of LIHWAP grantees’ anticipated technical assistance needs. The agenda for the session will include a discussion of the purpose of the session, a review of the LIHWAP legislation, a discussion of OCS’s adaptation of current LIHEAP processes and procedures, a review of the areas for input and feedback (including an overview of the feedback survey that will be released in tandem with the information and feedback sessions), and an overview highlight of critical next steps. There will also be time at the end for a moderated question and answer session.

NACWA has been actively involved in advocating for a federal low-income water program and knows that many members have questions and ideas about how the program may be structured.  Any interested members are encouraged to register for the session and participate in the Q&A portion.
