NACWA Supports Latest Reuse Benefits at WateReuse Symposium

5(September 18, 2018) – The WateReuse Association held its Annual Symposium on all things related to water reuse and recycling in Austin, Texas las week. The event, which ran September 9-12, attracted upwards of 600 individuals and included a water reuse 101 bootcamp, various technical tours, and an exhibition hall for innovative and advanced technologies in the reuse space. In addition, U.S. Navy fighter pilot and astronaut, Captain Scott Kelly captivated listeners with his heartfelt story of overcoming personal and professional adversity and his journey to spend a year in space—and how potable reuse 245 miles above Earth’s surface is a life or death issue.

The technical program featured a variety of water reuse topics including the economic benefits of reuse, engaging the community in reuse efforts, as well as source control and augmenting local water supplies. EPA and the Center for Disease Control discussed the current federal role in water recycling as well as input on state water reuse decisions. Check out the full program here.
