(July 17, 2018) - The Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works held a hearing on July 11, entitled “The Long-term value to U.S. Taxpayers of Low-cost Federal Infrastructure Loans.” The hearing examined the role of the popular Water Infrastructure Finance and Innovation Act (WIFIA) program for water and wastewater, the Transportation Infrastructure Finance and Innovation Act (TIFIA) for surface transportation, and proposals to build on the successes of these programs including the SRF-WIN proposal incorporated into the 2018 Senate Water Resources Development Act package.  

Witnesses testified about the value of low-cost financing and the need for increased infrastructure investment from a variety of programs, a concern echoed by several members of the Committee as well. Contact Kristina Surfus, NACWA Legislative Affairs Director, to discuss.
