Energy Workgroup Engages on Food Waste, Plots Course for Future

Jan 31, 2017

Energy Workgroup

NACWA’s Energy Workgroup met last week for an informative and engaging discussion on food waste and co-digestion. The webinar featured two presentations from member utilities: Jason Dow from Central Marin Sanitation Agency (CMSA) discussed the Food2Energy program at CMSA, and Andre Schmidt from Los Angeles County Sanitation District (LACSD) outlined his utility’s co-digestion experiments. If you missed the webinar, the CMSA presentation is available here, as well as LACSD’s presentation.

Responding to high levels of interest and participation in this webinar, NACWA will revive the informal Food Energy Discussion group, as part of the Energy Workgroup. If you are interested in taking part in this discussion group, please contact Oliver Hamilton for more information.

In light of the meeting with DOE representatives (see related story), NACWA’s next Energy Workgroup webinar will focus on some DOE programs related to the wastewater sector. The next webinar will feature presentations by member utilities that have taken part in these programs, such as the Better Plants program.  If your utility has experience with these programs and would like to share these experiences with the workgroup, please contact Oliver Hamilton
