Webinar Explores New Climate Change Liabilities for Clean Water Utilities

Jun 4, 2018

five(June 5, 2018) - The next edition of NACWA's Hot Topics in Clean Water Law Webinar series – on June 20, from 2:00 - 3:30 PM ET – places the very latest legal ramifications of climate change front-and-center.

In January, the Conservation Law Foundation (CLF) released a new report, Climate Adaptation and Liability: A Legal Primer and Workshop Summary Report, outlining potential areas of liability arising from climate change impacts for several professions and industries, including the municipal clean water sector.  Meanwhile, litigation is pending in several courts around the country focused on the same issues.  As always, our expert panel of attorneys will not only address these topics with you, they will help you protect your utility by identifying possible pitfalls and clear solutions to the complex legal challenges confronting the clean water sector today.

This series of free webinars are designed to provide clean water utilities with the latest insights and analysis on key clean water legal issues.  They offer an unparalleled opportunity to keep up with the most important developments in clean water law.

As part of this important conversation, NACWA’s Legal Affairs Committee will also meet jointly with the Association’s Climate & Resiliency Committee on July 23, from 2:30 – 4:00 pm ET, during the NACWA Utility Leadership Conference & 48th Annual Meeting, in Boston, MA.  The meeting will focus on a discussion of the CLF report, the pending litigation, and how the clean water sector can respond.  The June 20 Webinar will provide a preview of the committee meeting and will feature a panel of experienced clean water practitioners discussing the issue.
