NACWA participated in panel discussions at the annual meeting of the Association of Clean Water Administrators (ACWA) on August 21, providing a critical public clean water utility perspective on pending water sector priorities. Amanda Waters, NACWA’s General Counsel, discussed NACWA’s national advocacy on infrastructure funding and engaged in dialogue with state regulators on the panel and in the audience about how we can work together to better ensure sustainable funding sources to meet the complex and diverse water quality needs of communities of all sizes.

Ms. Waters also joined the National Association of State Departments of Agriculture and the Vermont Department of Environmental Conservation in a panel discussion on the Farm Bill reauthorization. The session focused on the success of programs under the Conservation Title of the Farm Bill, namely the Regional Conservation and Partnership Program (RCPP), and ways to improve these programs in the next Farm Bill.  While the Farm Bill is expected to be reauthorized by Congress next year, discussions around the legislation have already begun on Capitol Hill.  NACWA has formed a volunteer member workgroup to inform NACWA’s advocacy in Congress.
