"Do not flush."

"Non-flushable."

It doesn't matter which phrase appears on packages of disposable wipes. Macomb County Public Works Commissioner Candice Miller just wants one of the phrases, or something similar, on the packaging.

And she plans to sue to get the change made.

Miller announced Wednesday that she is filing a lawsuit in U.S. District Court in Detroit against nine companies that represent the vast majority of disposal wipes produced and sold in the U.S. to change their labeling and marketing practices.

She said many disposable wipes are labeled as being flushable, but they are causing all kinds of problems for sewer systems and costing ratepayers tens of thousands of dollars to fix.
