When you gotta go, you gotta flush.

And when you need to flush, only flush toilet paper, Delaware municipalities and agencies continue to urge those who, well, had an urge.

Paper towels, napkins, facial tissues, wet wipes and baby wipes can clog pipes and water treatment systems.

And that result can be unpleasant, both for the workers who have to deal with it and the people whose homes might experience backups.

"We don't have any problems yet, but that's why we are asking folks to think before they flush," said John Rago, deputy chief of staff for policy and communications for Wilmington Mayor Mike Purzycki.

Sewage and water system operators started sounding the warnings to only flush toilet paper weeks ago, when the personal cleaning products became the object of panicked shopping and hoarding, wiping shelves clean.
